FAQs
What’s Pilates?
Pilates is a word you hear a lot these days…but what is it? Well, depending on who you talk to, you might get different answers. But to us here at Bombshell, Pilates is mindful strength training, using spring resistance and your own body resistance. We focus on working the body as evenly and completely as possible, as efficiently as possible. We always work from the center (called the Powerhouse) outward.
I’m not in good shape or flexible. Can I still do Pilates?
Absolutely. We all have goals and things we don’t think we’re good at. The great thing about the Pilates method is that it is super customizable. We meet you where you are, with no judgment, because we know you’re already hard enough on yourself. We’ll work closely with you on your goals and get you to where you want to be.
I’m already in excellent shape. I don’t think I need Pilates… Wait, do I??
We’ll just say this… more and more pro athletes (think football players, baseball players, basketball players, and gymnasts) are finding the excellent benefits of cross-training with Pilates, and they are reaping the benefits! It might do a couple of good things for you too.
CLASSES
Do you offer reformer classes?
We’re a full equipped classical studio, so we have ALL the fun equipment. But, reformer work is only available in private or semi-private training. Some of that is due to safety concerns, and some is just the way our studio is shaped.
What kind of group classes do you have?
We offer three levels of mat classes! Mat is a really important component of the Pilates system, and we think it’s a great thing to do with other Pilates people. We will sometimes utilize props, but it is a non-equipment class.
PRE/POST NATAL AND INJURIES
Can I do Pilates if I’m pregnant?
We offer private training for pre- and post-natal clients. Group classes are not appropriate during pregnancy. We want to make sure that you get EXACTLY what you need during this exciting time!
I’m working through an injury right now. Is Pilates an option for me?
Yes, it is! If you are dealing with an acute injury, we require you to begin with private sessions. We may or may not decide that group training is appropriate after a proper assessment. Did we mention how flexible and customizable the Pilates method is? We can modify and work around whatever you’re working through to give you a safe and effective workout.
